The voice just announced who is ready to replace Blake Shelton as a coach after season 23, and country fans couldn’t be happier about it.
In October 2022, Blake announced his intention to step down as a coach after being on the show since day one. Recently, The voice dropped a surprise revealing this country superstar Reba McEntire will sit in her red chair for season 24. Additionally, the NBC series announced that she will be joining current coach Niall Horan and the mentors of season 22 john legend And Gwen Stefani to form the celebrity quartet competing to find the ultimate singer.
Shortly after the news broke, the “Fancy” singer shared her excitement on Instagram. “There’s a new coach in town!” she captioned a video posted on May 15. “See you all this fall!”
Since Reba is a music legend, longtime viewers rejoiced when they learned that she would be the one to take over from Blake.
“You NEVER stop surprising us. 👑 Looking forward to seeing you on The voice. ❤️,” one person said in the comments section of the Instagram post. “Brb needs to audition for The voice!” exclaimed another user. “Reba is a great person to replace Blake!!! Blake will be missed but I love Reba!!! ❤️🔥,” another follower replied.
People know that Reba has a long-standing relationship with The voice. THE big sky alum first debuted as an advisor for Team Blake for Season 1’s Battle Rounds, then returned to coach the top 12 in Season 8. Fifteen seasons later, she returned as a as Mega Mentor, giving advice to contestants as they prepared for knockout rounds and a spot on live broadcasts.
As for what Reba thinks of his new role in The voice, she talked about it during the last episode. As she sat in her future armchair, she told the host Carson Daly how thrilled she is to take on such a great task.
“I can’t wait to be here with all of you,” she said. “You treated me so well. I so appreciate the hospitality you showed me earlier. Being able to come and train my own team, I’m so looking forward to it.”
That said, Reba fully acknowledges that she has a tough training competition ahead. “I get that I need to go dazzle with Gwen over there,” she joked to People. “Gwen always has the best outfits, so I really need to up my game on that.”
Either way, we’re excited to see how Reba fares in Season 24.
