According to the divorce filing obtained by TMZ (the first to report the news), the couple separated in January. Doherty is asking for spousal support and asking that it not be awarded to her photographer ex-husband. The couple do not share children.
Hours before news of the case broke, Doherty shared a cryptic message on Instagram. “The only people who deserve to be in your life are those who treat you with love, kindness and total respect,” read the post, which was also shared on her Instagram Story.
Doherty and Iswarienko married in October 2011. The actress was previously married to Ashley Hamilton from 1993 to 1994 and Rick Salomon from 2002 to 2003.
A year before her nuptials to Iswarienko, Doherty told PEOPLE she was taking her third marriage seriously. “For me, marriage is such a gigantic commitment that it’s not something I would take lightly anymore,” she said at the time. “I learned my lesson.”

The divorce announcement comes a month after Doherty told fans she “felt great” during a Charm panel alongside Rose McGowan, Holly Marie Combs, Brian Krause, Dorian Gregory and Drew Fuller, hosted by PEOPLE’s Breanne L. Heldman, at 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut.

Doherty made a point of sharing all the good, bad and ugly of her cancer treatments since she announced in 2020 that the disease had returned the year before.
