Bringing you the weird and wild of the MMA world every night of the week!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
The UFC doesn’t do gimmick fights unless they have the potential to make big money! In that case, UFC President Dana White is happy to jump on board. In this most recent example, Conor McGregor and Brock Lesnar may retire, as their earning potential pales in comparison to standout athletes Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg.
The billionaire beef stems from the social media rivalry, and it’s been marinating for quite some time now. It wasn’t until this week, however, that the two discussed fighting inside a cage. White swung into action, speaking to both parties and revealing he was very interested in making it happen.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, White discussed some of the complexities of booking such an unusual match, revealing that it would have to be an unauthorized exhibition contest due to the size disparity. In fact, White likened the potential fight to the early days of the UFC’s open weight class.
“I spoke to them both, (Elon and I) have a call in about five minutes here,” Dana White said (via BJPenn.com). “I don’t know, listen. First of all, if they both agree and they both say, let’s start here. Elon Musk is six-foot-two and two-hundred and twenty pounds. Mark Zuckerberg is not, okay. There’s a massive difference, this thing would be like UFC 1 for god’s sake.
He continued: “We will have to determine the weight, I do not know how the commissions will consider this thing… Well, it would be an exhibition, it would not be sanctioned by a commission. There are still a lot of things you would have to do for this fight to happen. But what I love and respect is that these two guys are down, they both want to do it. They both want to fight, for people who aren’t even fighting fans, it’s fun. It’s fun to talk about, it’s fun to think about, you know me man, I’m trying to put the pieces together and see what we can do.
It always seems like an extremely long shot, but even a jiu-jitsu match or padded training session would draw a ton of eyes. Or, fresh idea, maybe this is the big break Power Slap needs?!?
Insomnia
The biggest lesson I learned in 2023 is that Zhalgas Zhumagulov is the funniest fighter on the roster.
Marlon Vera is extremely sympathetic towards Henry Cejudo’s potentially injured shoulder.
Both of these matches look awesome. Tucker vs. Lopes looks like a very technical matchup with good finishing potential, and Oleksiejczuk vs. Njokuani will end up with someone oblivious.
It’s my house except I have to keep typing while standing.
Renato Moicano plays the ranking panel members, immediately shames them.
I could watch this for 20 minutes.
Eddie Abasolo lost a somewhat controversial decision to the great Sitthichai this morning, but dear lord, what an incredible sequence of elbows that is!
Slips, tears and KO clips
I had no idea that fighters below middleweight could even attempt Mother’s Milk submission, let alone land it. It’s a big heavyweight shot only!
I’m almost never one to scream at the late stop, but it could have been called after the first nudge.
If you’re ever in Thailand during one of Tiger Muay Thai’s BBQ Beatdowns, they’re great fun.

The incredible instincts of the beaver.
Midnight Music: Prolific and prolific Australian rock band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have dipped their toes back into metal on their latest release, which has an extremely long title but begins with PetroDragonic Apocalypse. It’s funny!
