Meg Ryan made a rare public appearance in New York on Wednesday night, stepping out to support Michael J. Fox at a screening of his new documentary “STILL.”
The 61-year-old ‘Sleepless In Seattle’ star posed for photos with Fox, and many fell in love with the couple’s enduring friendship.
However, some social media pundits were distracted by the actress’ appearance, saying she was “unrecognizable” – and may have had some cosmetic tweaks.
“WTF did Meg Ryan to her face?!” a bewildered fan asked.
“Is it really Meg Ryan? If so, it’s such a shame and incredibly sad,” another cynic drawn.
“Drop the Filler!!!” a third stepped in, implying the beauty may have had non-surgical work done.
Meanwhile, several cruel trolls claimed the ‘When Harry Met Sally’ star was starting to look like Madonna, 64, who also made headlines for her famous face.
“She and Madonna obviously have the same plastic surgeon,” one said. declared.
‘Meg Ryan and Madonna should team up for a horror movie’, another mean Twitter troll declared.
However, several fans hit back, defending the star’s appearance.
“Meg Ryan is exactly as different as you would expect a 61-year-old to be,” said a declared.
Reclusive Ryan rarely makes public appearances. Wednesday’s outing was his first media event in more than six months.
The Hollywood sweetheart hasn’t publicly said whether or not she’s had a cosmetic job, despite more than a decade of speculation about her appearance.
In 2016, the Huffington Post ran an article titled, “Meg Ryan’s face is none of our business,” after the actress began trending on Twitter after her Tony Awards appearance that year.
Ryan hasn’t been seen in a movie on the big screen since 2015’s “Ithaca,” but the star thrilled fans last year by announcing she was returning to romantic comedy roots.
Ryan, long known as the queen of the genre, has announced that she will star in and direct the romantic comedy “What Happens After.”
David Duchovny has also been attached to star, although production details have yet to be made public.
The film is based on the play “Shooting Star” by Steven Dietz and follows ex-lovers Willa (Ryan) and Bill (Duchovny), who are forcibly reunited when snowbound in an airport at night.
Willa is independent, while Bill is recently separated and is evaluating his life and relationship with his ex-wife and daughter, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
