A man closed Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood for more than three hours after climbing a TV tower while clutching a “Free Billie Eilish” sign on Tuesday.
The man, who has not been identified, scaled the 162-foot tower of California news station KTLA and played his guitar as onlookers watched from below, the outlet reported.
Having only reached 30 feet into the tower, the musical “protester” was eventually knocked down and then arrested by police just after midnight (PST).
Footage on social media showed the Los Angeles Fire Department’s large inflatable airbag placed under the tower in an effort to bring the man down to safety.
Officials called the man a “protester”, according to the outlet, but it’s unclear what he was protesting.
The man was also holding a white sheet with black letters that read: “MK ultra sex slaves donald marshall clones.”
The ordeal saw traffic around the tower come to a halt, with police blocking roads surrounding the TV tower.
Power to the tower was also cut as officials begged the man to come down.
The man was arrested for trespassing, according CBS 8 producer Malik Earnest.
Since the ordeal, ‘Free Billie Eilish’ started trending on Twitter, however, some fans were left baffled by the man’s post about the 21-year-old ‘Bad Guy’ singer.
The seven-time Grammy winner, who appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden earlier today, currently has no legal issues and has not addressed the bizarre incident.
“Release Billie Eilish, she’s not doing anything,” one confused fan tweeted.
Another wrote: “This free Billie Eilish thing is the most random thing ever.”
“Billie Eilish, sleeping peacefully to ‘FREE BILLIE EILISH’ trends, not knowing she needs to be freed,” added a third.
The Post has reached out to LAPD, LAFD and representatives for Eilish for comment.
