Dua Lipa looks pensive as she puts on a towering display in a leather skirt in LA

Dua Lipa looked pensive on Tuesday as she arrived at a recording studio in Los Angeles.

The singer, 27, hasn’t released an album since releasing Future Nostalgia in 2020.

But she has sparked intrigue that her third and “truly personal” record may finally be on the way as she has been spotted in Hollywood Hills.

The New Rules singer, who was recently cast in the movie Barbie, turned heads in an eye-catching yellow silk shirt, which she teamed with a black tie.

She showed off her enviable toned legs in a black leather skirt, as she wore a matching jacket and added Puma trainers.

She showed off her enviable toned pins and flaunted her bronzed complexion.

Meanwhile, she pulled her raven tresses back slightly for a half-up, half-down style and added black eyeliner for an elegant look.

Dua appeared deep in thought as she frowned slightly as she got out of the car.

She was later pictured with her friend and songwriter Ali Tamposi on location, with whom she had previously collaborated on her hit Break My Heart.

It comes after it was revealed that Dua is set to record the theme song for the Barbie movie live and will star as a mermaid version of the iconic doll.

Greta Gerwig’s live-action Barbie movie will see Margot Robbie star as the iconic doll while Ryan Gosling stars as her longtime love Ken.

Although the news was well received by many enthusiastic fans, some were angry that Aqua’s chart-topping 1997 song Barbie Girl was not used, while others demanded that Britney Spears is the singer of the song.

A spokeswoman for Dua declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline at the time.

Along with penning a pop anthem for the live-action movie, Dua is also set to star as a Barbie doll, alongside Margot as the lead version of the character.

A first look shared on the official Barbie movie Instagram page showed Dua dressed as a mermaid version of the iconic Mattel doll, which took many forms.

The Levitating hitmaker showed off her incredible figure in a shimmering blue bralette and matching skirt as she played a mermaid.

She accessorized her sensational look with a pearl necklace and hoop earrings, while she opted for a blue eyeshadow palette.

Dua sported a vibrant blue wig that cascaded over her shoulders in glamorous waves to complete the look.

Alongside the snap, her role was revealed in a caption that read, ‘Dua Lipa. This Barbie is a mermaid.

Dua will star in only one version of Barbie, as the iconic doll will be brought to life by an array of stars, each of whom will take on an aspect of the versatile character.

Sex Education’s Emma Mackey will play a Barbie who has a “Nobel Prize in Physics” while Nicola Coughlan will play a diplomat version of the doll.

With Margot leading the all-inclusive cast, Hari Nef will play a doctor version of the doll while Sharon Rooney will play a Barbie lawyer and Alexandra Shipp will be an author.

The larger cast also includes Kingsley Ben-Adir, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Rhea Pearlman, Emerald Fennell, Scott Evans, Ritu Aryau, Jamie Demetriou and Marisa Abela.

Speculation about Dua’s involvement in the project was first sparked when the film’s official Instagram went live.

The story followed 15 people involved in the film, including Dua, which sparked speculation that she would appear.

Her acting breakthrough comes after Dua became a household name in 2018 when her single, One Kiss, topped charts around the world.

A year later, she won the Brit Award for Song of the Year and won Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording at the Grammys.

Last year, it was revealed that she left her music management company TaP and is now managed by her father, Dukagjin.

In addition to starring in the Barbie movie, Dua will take on another acting role as she will have an undisclosed role in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming spy thriller, Argylle.
