AEW Collision Results – June 24, 2023
AEW Collision kicks off with quick promotions from both teams for tonight’s main event as CM Punk, FTR and Ricky Starks take on Bullet Club Gold and The Gunns. There was definitely a Saturday night Main Event feel to it.
Tony Schiavone is in the ring trying to get Sting and Darby Allin out so they can reveal their partner for Forbidden Door tomorrow. Chris Jericho is dating Minoru Suzuki instead. There is no Sammy Guevara to be found.
Chris Jericho tells Schiavone and everyone in the crowd to shut up. Jericho said he’s not from Toronto; he’s from Winnipeg, you idiots. Jericho says he’s in a bad mood because Sting and Darby kept them waiting to find out who their partner is. Jericho wants to know who they are going to have who is tougher than Suzuki.
Jericho said Guevara wasn’t here tonight because he was upset that he and Suzuki were such good friends. Jericho said he wasn’t expecting an answer and claimed Schiavone knew who the partner was. He threatens him with the baseball bat, which eventually brings Sting and Allin out.
Darby Allin tells Jericho to shut up, Allin says he knows Sammy isn’t here tonight, but if he shows up at Forbidden Door tomorrow and hangs out with Jericho and Suzuki, he’s gonna kick his ass… just like their partner kicked Jericho’s ass at the Tokyo Dome.
Jericho has a fit as Tetsuya Naito enters the stage. Suzuki doesn’t seem to be in tune with the announcement. Naito gets in the ring and looks at Jericho, which knocks The Ocho and Suzuki out of the ring.
We go backstage and hear Miro, he says he has been in exile for over a year but has finally been summoned. He said the coward finally spoke; he said he would become his favorite champion again. All he had to do was congratulate him. Miro realized at this point that the coward was also an idiot. Miro said it made him realize he had to walk alone. He renounces his god, his gold and his beautiful wife. Because he is Miro and he is impious.
Hiroshi Tanahashi defeats Swerve Strickland
- Hiroshi Tanahashi hit the High Fly Flow on Swerve Strickland to secure the overall victory.
MJF appears on the Tron after the match and tells Tanahashi that he will embarrass him at Forbidden Door and anyone who thinks he is on his level. MJF said he told Tony Khan the only way he could show up at the pay-per-view was if it was the first game on the card because he didn’t want to spend his evening watching. a group of indy jabroni wrestlers. MJF said Tanahashi was not at the devil’s level.
Andrade El Idolo defeated Brody King (with Julia Hart)
- Andrade El Idolo closed in on a figure 8 as Buddy Matthews ran and attacked El Idolo to cause the disqualification.
Matthews and King teamed up and defeated El Idolo after the match and no one comes out to save him. Malakai Black is shown on the Tron as Hart holds El Idolo’s mask and the lights go out to end the segment.
We’re back from a commercial break and Tony Schiavone is back in the ring featuring Christian Cage and TNT Champion Luchasaurus. Cage comes out carrying the TNT title on his shoulder. The Canadian crowd sings for Christian Cage.
Cage said he left Collision last week in a very bad mood, but knew that in a week he would be back in Toronto with the TNT Championship, but now he’s in a lesser mood. Cage said he can be brutally honest because he’s from here and said this town breeds losers and they’re okay with mediocrity, but that’s not the case.
He buries the Toronto Maple Leafs for being rebounded in the second round by the Florida Panthers. The crowd completely turned on Cage at this point. Cage takes credit for Kawhi Leonard leaving the Toronto Raptors.
Cage said there were no more open challenges for the TNT Championship and people had to win it. He sneakily shoots Cody Rhodes and said he would take the title to new heights and make it the most important title in All Elite Wrestling. Cage celebrates with the TNT title and Luchasaurus seems okay with it all.
A pack of hype plays for the men’s Owen Hart Cup tournament. Each man claims he will be the one to win the tournament. The men’s cut kicks off tomorrow with CM Punk going one-on-one with Satoshi Kojima.
New Japan STRONG Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale defeated Nyla Rose (with Marina Shafir) to qualify for the Owen Hart Cup Women’s Tournament
- Willow Nightingale hits a pinned Powerbomb on Nyla Rose to win the match and advance in the tournament.
Nightingale is surrounded in the ring after the Outcasts match. This brings out Skye Blue with a steel chair, causing the Outcasts to flee the ringside area.
We hear from Scorpio Sky backstage who said he watched the video package last week and it should have been nice. But that was not the case. He said instead of a highlight reel, let him introduce himself. He reviews his accomplishments in All Elite Wrestling and says the world is about to find out who Scorpio Sky really is.
Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Jeremy Prophet
- Powerhouse Hobbs wins with a spinebuster in a relatively quick squash match.
Jay White, Juice Robinson and The Gunns defeated CM Punk, FTR and Ricky Starks
- Juice Robinson hits Ricky Starks with a quarter roll that allowed Jay White to hit Starks with the Bladerunner for his team’s overall victory.
The Gunns appear to be joining Bullet Club Gold as AEW Collision goes off the air.
