Chicago Bears sign 14 undrafted free agents ahead of 2023 rookie minicamp

Tyson Bagent, QB, Shepherd (6-3, 213)

Has the record for most touchdown passes in any NCAA division with 159… Was named first-team All-Mountain East as a rookie after passing for 3,029 yards and 29 touchdowns… Was named second-team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East, Shepherd’s new conference, sophomore after throwing for 4,349 yards and 36 touchdowns… Named PSAC East Offensive Player of the Year and won the Harlon Hill Trophy as a player Division II National of the Year in 2021 after passing for 5,000 yards and 53 touchdowns… Was named All-PSAC East and PSAC East Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 after throwing for 4,580 yards and 41 touchdowns… A participated in the NFL Combine and played in the Senior Bowl on the American team coached by Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy… Led Martinsburg High School in West Virginia to two state championships.

Micah Baskerville, LB, LSU (6-0, 224)

Appeared in 54 games, starting 30 times at linebacker… Completed career with 260 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks… Led LSU in tackles as a fifth-year senior in 2022 with 89… Outstanding all-around linebacker who brought leadership to the field…Can play inside or outside the linebacker position…Good against the run and pass coverage…Quick with good instincts to find the football…Team member of the 2019 LSU National Championship.

Justin Broiles, S, Oklahoma (5-10, 191)

Appeared in 57 games with 27 starts over five seasons, recording 182 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss, three interceptions, seven pass breakups and two fumble recoveries… One of three 2022 recipients of the coveted Don Key Award from the program, touted for excellence on and off the court…last year earned an All-Big 12 honorable mention from league coaches…a first-team All-Big 12 academic winner…played in all 13 games and started the last 12… ranked fourth on the team with 71 tackles and recorded 3.0 tackles-for loss, one interception and two PBUs… Was a four-star freshman at John Marshall High School in Oklahoma.

Robert Burns, FB, Connecticut (5-11, 222)

Played the first three seasons of his college career at Miami, Florida from 2018-2020, playing in 16 games and rushing for 189 yards on 47 carries…moved to Connecticut in 2021 and played in seven games, rushing for 45 yards on 12 attempts… Founder and owner of Roberto’s Donuts, he is also COO and co-founder of Second Spoon, a non-profit organization that provides people in need with surplus food from university canteens.

Damien Caffrey, ET, Stony Brook (6-6, 262)

Appeared in 11 games each of the past two seasons… Had seven receptions for 78 yards with a rush of 35 yards last year… Moved to Stony Brook in 2021 after spending the first three years of college at Long University Island.

Macon Clark, S, Tulane (5-11, 203)

Appeared in 59 games over five seasons, recording 204 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, nine interceptions – returning two for touchdowns – 18 pass breakups, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries… The last year compiled 68 tackles, 8.0 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions, six pass breakups, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery while playing in 14 games.

Aron Cruikshank, WR, Rutgers (5-9, 165)

Appeared in 54 games in five seasons at Wisconsin (2018-19) and Rutgers (2020-22), catching 103 passes for 908 yards and five touchdowns, rushing for 360 yards and three touchdowns on 40 carries and averaging 24 .0 yards with four touchdowns on 107 kickoff returns and 10.0 yards with a touchdown on 21 punt returns… Last year he played in 12 games on 10 starts, catching a game-high 42 in career and led the team, for 385 yards and two touchdowns… Was a four-year Academic Honor Roll student and four-star freshman at Erasmus Hall High School in New York.
