Alec Baldwin was spotted in his Wild West wardrobe for the first time on the new ‘Rust’ set after shooting and killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins while rehearsing a scene for the same film in 2021 .
Production on the indie-western was halted after filming on set in New Mexico on Oct. 21, 2021, but resumed this week near the Yellowstone Film Ranch in Paradise Valley, Montana.
A grey-bearded Baldwin was seen again in character as the rugged sniper Harland Rust, wearing high leather boots, gray pants, and a shirt with a black button-up waistcoat and a bandana around his neck.
His handcuffs appeared to be stained with blood, according to photos obtained by The Post.
Baldwin was spotted at his hotel in Montana earlier on Friday – just a day after the Santa Fe County District Attorney’s Office dropped manslaughter charges against the actor in connection with Hutchins’ death after “new facts” have come to light.
Prosecutors have said they may bring the charges against the 65-year-old actor again following an additional investigation.
During rehearsal for a scene in October 2021, a prop gun Badwin was using fired a live bullet, striking and killing the 42-year-old. He had long maintained that he had not pulled the trigger and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Baldwin appeared to be in high spirits as he left his snowy hotel, where he was met outside by director Joel Souza – who was shot in the shoulder in the shooting.
Souza would be one of the few crew members to reprise the original shoot.
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the film’s rookie gunsmith, still faces manslaughter charges in the shooting.
She will not join the team to shoot the new scenes.
The move to Montana comes after the film’s production company finalized a settlement last month with New Mexico over “serious” on-set safety violations and agreed to pay a $100,000 fine.
Sources on set told the Post that the new set appears to match the previous New Mexico location — except it was recently covered in snow.
It remains to be seen what the different landscapes will look like in the finished film.
